La Fornace – Collemattoni Dinner

Small, comfortable dinner at the cozy Craft Restaurant. Charles Sciccolone, Gabrio Tosti from Il Posto Accanto and James Stewart from Bar Veloce joined Dino and friends to celebrate the Montalcino Brunello winemakers Marcello Bucci from Collemattoni and Fabio Giannetti from La Fornace. The food perfectly complemented the wines. Salads and first courses, served Craft family-style were well paired with the 2001 Rosso di Montalcino wines and a wide variety of meat courses were brought to the table to accompany the larger, more refined Brunellos. Each dish accented something different in the wines, including the less-traditional choices: poultry dishes of chicken and wild hen. The freshest variety of cheeses was presented for the 1998 Brunello Riserva. Overall, an incredible meal, ideal for these remarkable wines.
